THE METRONOME/ BLOG POST 18
Summer temperatures are on the rise. Everyone around me seems to be feeling unwell. With Boroline, Shorsher Tel, Macher Jhol and Calcutta out of the way, I may as well get down to talking - and singing - about one of the favourite topics of conversation for many a Bong - ill health and ailments! I've a sneaky suspicion that just by virtue of being a Bangali, one is blessed with easier access to a wider range of ailments than many others. And therefore, it is but natural, that some of us develop a sort of snobbery about the number of ailments we're able to clock up - and outdo each other at ! It is often said that one should be careful about asking a Bengali " How are you?" - unless one has time to spare for an answer that could take a while to adequately flesh out.

SONG LYRICS :
I am not feeling too well
My peace of mind has gone to hell
So many confusing symptoms...
What will happen, noone can tell !
The Doctor has said it is best
To hurry up and do all the tests
Only then we will find out
If I have sugar or gout
My stomach is tender, my digestion weak
My liver is delicate, my future is bleak
My iron is low, my pressure is high
Triglyceride is pathetic, will I just die?
I have spondylosis, my neck has a crick
If i do exercise, it makes me sick
My heart begins to hurt, whenever I run,
I get dehydration in the heat of the sun!
I am not feeling too well
My mental peace has gone to hell
You can tell from my song
That something is wrong
But treatment noone can tell
